Florida oranges sheathed in an ice storm glaze
For we in the northern climes, it is a kind of just desserts that Florida and the southern U.S. is attacked
by hail and freezing rain from the occasional freak storm. In contrast, a flash freezing or generally cold weather makes for terrific — I am told — ice wine.
If it were not for
the consequent hefty increase in the price of fresh fruits like ornages,
growers and consumers alike could admire the extraordinary
glazed fruit still on the vine.
