A portrait of Jake vanderWal
A portrait of a man at home in the northwestern Ontario wilds. I am told that when
he wore this peculiar floppy hat, people would call him Montana, just like a
character right out of his own television program. I also get the impression that
the name was to remind him that when wearing that chapeau, he looked a little silly ...
maybe a lot ...
Montana was a honour and a pleasure to create. Though the portrait is a
consequence of a sad event, I hope that the work will strengthen the
resolve in all of us to celebrate everything that Jake espoused and
continues to do through all who know him.
